Summary
They are old chrysanthemums originally from Sagano in Kyoto prefecture. It is said that Saga-giku chrysanthemums give a strong image of Kyoto because of their name.
Flowers in dark red, pink, white, and yellow bloom during October and November.

Although the flower representing Kyoto prefecture is a weeping cherry tree, Saga-giku chrysanthemums and Dianthus were designated as flowering plants in March 6, 1990 (some people also consider them flowers).
